Study on the future of the automotive industry in NRW

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy (MWIDE) of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia has commissioned a scientific study on the future of the automotive industry in NRW. Under the leadership of the Institute of the German Economy Köln Consult GmbH, automotiveland.nrw and Fraunhofer IAO accompanied the study

It includes questions relating to the future viability of NRW as an automotive location, which is of great importance for the entire automotive industry in Germany. You will find out what impact the drivers of electrification, automation and networking will have on the state, how companies in NRW are positioned for the future and get an outlook on economic policy recommendations.

The world of mobility is undergoing a disruptive change, similar to the transition from the carriage to the automobile 100 years ago. This is being driven on the one hand by technological breakthroughs in the areas of automation, electrification and networking of mobility services, as well as the emergence of new mobility services and innovative business models, and on the other by the need for more sustainable, safer and more efficient solutions.
